No, you're not wrong. Pat Byrne was here at MCC back in June 2022. Why did we invite him back only six months later? The answer is pretty simple - Pat is awesome and all of you who were at this show in June raved about him. And after we got to know Pat and realized what a great human being he is, this was a no-brainer.
Born in Carlow, Ireland (90 minutes from where Dave's grandmother Margaret Coleman was born), Pat relocated to Austin in 2017 and has been playing around town and touring cross-country (and across the UK, of course) since.
We first learned of Pat’s music through Jaimee Harris while she was co-writing with Pat a few years ago.
Pat has released three records, his most recent being Into The Light last year - it's a pretty amazing record and has garnered a ton of great reviews.
Pat is one of the most captivating artists we've hosted here at MCC - he writes great songs whose lyrics paint pictures the listener can't miss. His songs and his voice (and his performing style) remind us a bit of a young Bruce Springsteen with an Irish brogue.
It was only while speaking with a friend that I learned that Pat had actually won the initial season of "The Voice: Ireland", singing a cover of Springsteen's The River. (check out that video if you get the chance) Small world.
