A BIT ABOUT SHELLEY
PLEASE NOTE THE DATE CHANGE for Shelley's show - it is now scheduled for Saturday June 20.
In 2008, Shelley was named the sixth Texas State Musician by the Texas Commission on the Arts, following in the footsteps of legends like Ray Benson and Billy Joe Shaver and a year before Willie Nelson. No small feat, and the first woman to be so honored.
For 30+ years now, Shelley has been a road warrior, performing all over the US & Europe solo, with her band, and in recent years, with blues guitar magician Carolyn Wonderland and honky tonk piano magician Marcia Ball.
Shelley will be returning for her fourth visit to MCC, and this one will be a solo show.
Shelley's 10th album, Madam Mystic, is a soulful, rootsy record that features collaborations with members of The Subdudes (John Magnie and Steve Amedee) and with Cindy Cashdollar. And, like all of Shelley's other records, you only need to hear a few notes of any song to know it's Shelley.
Whether she’s leading a band or standing center stage on her own, Shelley has a way of making the music feel personal to everyone in the room. She’s a powerhouse singer and a fabulous songwriter, but more than that, she’s just a great person to have in the house. I’m really looking forward to catching up with her and hearing these new songs. It’s going to be another special night.
